I MADE THE MUFFLER AND THE BAG OUT OF THE REUSED TIES

2月3日節分、4日は立春。そして2月14日が今年は旧暦1月1日です。やっと名実ともに2010年に入りました。

寒い日が続きます。スラッシュキルトのマフラーを作りました。
土台布のうえにシーチング布2枚(バイヤス）、その上に解いたネクタイ布を重ねて、７，8ミリ間隔の手縫いで縫った後、土台布を残してカットします。洗濯機で洗って起毛させます。
裏側にウールのネクタイを使って仕上げました。
もともと首まわりの物だったネクタイは、このような首回りのものに再利用すると具合いいですね。
５枚の布が重なって、しっかりした暖かいマフラーです。

写真で、マフラーの後ろにバックがあります。
バックもスラッシュキルト技法で作りました。持ち手が袋と続いた形で、底に８cmの別布をつけました。
紫色の土台布のうえに、薄紫色、クリーム色のシーチング布を一枚ずつ重ね、その上に解いたネクタイを一本,形に置きます。
片側も同じ色の順に布を重ねて、もう一本別のネクタイを　形に置きます。
ネクタイリフォームは、着物のりフォームと違って、布の分量が少ないため、複数のネクタイを使います。
そのとき、スラッシュキルト技法は、作品に統一感が出て、ネクタイリフォームには最適です。
持ち手がふわっと暖かいバックです。

TheLunar New Year is on the14th February this year.
It is the real beginning of the year.

I made a muffler by the slashquilt technique.
It involves the following steps.
Put the two pieces of cotton sheeting ( bias) on the base cotton.
Put the reusing one tie (opened the tie) on these sheeting.
Sew four pieces of cloth together by hand with steching parallel lines 7or 8mm in width.
Cut the parallel lines on two sheetings and a tie cloth without the base cotton.
Wash this in the washing machine.
After drying this pile,I made the muffler with one wool tie on the reverse side.

Slashquilt technic
(1)stitching parallel lines on a baias to a layer of 3 fablics placed over a base fabric.
(2)slashing (cutting) the three layers between the stitching lines.
(3)washing to create a pile.
The result is a quilt with a velveteen texture.

This muffler is warm and the fablic become strong.

I also made a bag by the slashquilt technique.
This need two reused ties(opened ties).
Each side is made of one tie,
The bottom is 8cm in width using one other tie(not opened).
The base cloth is purple in color and made of cotton and two piece of sheeting cotton arelight purple and cream colored.

The slashquilt technique is the best way of reusing two or three ties.
The article of reusing ties looks uniformity.

I made the Hanhaba-Obi and the Tabi from reusing ties

秋も深まってきました。夜空はオリオン流星群で飾られています。
流れ星に願いをかけるー昔はそう言って夜空を眺めたものです。
少しそんな時間を持って、昔の心に触れて見たいものです。

半巾帯を作りました。ネクタイ６本をほどいて四角いパーツをいくつも採っていきます。それらを並べて縫い合わせて３ｍ６０ｃｍにしました。裏側には金魚柄の木綿布を使い、裏表縫い合わせてひっくり反します。
ネクタイを手作りする時反し棒でひっくり返しますが、３ｍ６０ｃｍの長さをひっくり返すことは大変！でした。
半巾帯は、気楽に結んで着物を楽しめます。

足袋は緑色のつむぎネクタイで作りました。ネクタイ１本では少し足首部分の布がたりなくて、灰色の織りのネクタイをたしました。型紙は、手持ちの足袋をほどいて型をとりました。
何気なくはいていた足袋も作ってみると、昔の知恵や工夫がわかりました。
色足袋は白足袋と違って、遊び心があります。

５４年振りの熱田神宮の遷座祭に参列する機会をいただきました。
夜でしたが、灯りはすべて消してかがり火だけの中、御遷座の時を待ちます。
風が静かにふいて、かがり火のぱちぱちという音、やっとどこかでかすかな　
雅楽の音色　　平安時代はこんな時間の流れ方や空気感ではなかったのかと思いました。
こんな体験が、古い忘れられかけた品々の作品発表になりました。

I made the Hanhaba-Obi and the Tabi from reusing ties

This Outumn deepen.
There are many stars in the night sky.
When we were children, we played our wishes while falling star disappeard.

I made the Hanhaba-Obi (one kind of the Obi) from 6 ties.
The Obi is the traditional belt in Japan, when pople wear the Kimono.
Obi was made from 6 ties.
Undo the6 ties, and cut the square parts from these ties.
Arrange the square parts ,its length is 3 m 60 cm.
Sew the long facing of ties and the lining (I use the cotton), turn the inside out.
It is difficult to turn the Obi, it is too long.

I made the Tabi, when Japanese people wear the kimono ,put on the Tabi like the socks.
It was made from one tie and harf of one tie.
I can feel the ancient wisdom making these .

一本のネクタイからスラッシュキルトのポッシェットを作りました。
大きさは縦２６ｃｍ横２１ｃｍくらいです。
体に張り付く形なので、財布やケータイなど最低限度の物を入れてかけます。

写真のキメが荒くみえるのは毛羽立っているためです。
スラッシュキルトはバイヤス地をカットして、布端がほつれない断ち切りの風合いを楽しむ物です。バイヤス地のネクタイはスラッシュキルトに最適です。
絹地は光沢があり、肌触りがやさしくていいですよ！

Slashquilt Pochette

I made the pochette from one tie.
It was made by techniqu of slashquilt. 　　　　　　　　
The size is length 26 by 21 centimeters.
As it’s pattern along the body,it is the most suitable to bring the lowest things, a purce and a mobile phone etc.
On the photo,it looks rough,Because face of the pochette fluff up by slashhing.
The tie used bias cloth, so it is the best to make slash quilt things.
The slashhing silk to reuse ties are soft and has a nice gloss.
